COMPANY
Our client is a recognized innovator in the steam sterilizer industry, incorporating unique design features developed through over 25 years in the sterilizer business. The Company brings a special understanding to the design and manufacture of large, complex sterilizers. They manufacture and sell equipment to meet the sterilization needs of the healthcare, laboratory, bio-pharmaceutical and animal care markets throughout the world. The Company is looking for a seasoned operations executive knowledgeable of the Healthcare and Life Sciences industry with solid general management & leadership experience capable of providing strategic vision, implementing operational improvements and driving results. The Company is well positioned for sustained growth, and has high expectations for increased revenue through expansion, enhanced market penetration, and greater efficiencies of their operations.

REPORTING
The position reports to the Board of Directors. Opportunity to transition to CEO role after 12 months

Engineering background and/or MBA a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The scope of the role is general management with full P&L responsibility. The COO will be expected to achieve/exceed EBITDA budgets each year. Tasked with growing the company internally and via acquisitions, the COO is expected to provide the vision and roadmap. They are responsible for devising a strategic plan based on strong analytics and for implementing the processes and metrics to ensure and measure success.
  • Cultivate a culture that challenges and empowers employees to plan effectively and to be accountable for driving growth and profitability. Implement a structure and management process that emphasizes team work, professionalism and performance at all levels.
  • Lead, develop and retain a high performance team driving relentless focus on the core activities of profitable growth and market expansion. Provide strategic and tactical direction to all functional areas of the organization.
  • Conducting a strategic review of the company’s organizational structure and operations and make the necessary changes to ensure the best use of resources, facilities and people. This will include an emphasis on improving the company’s production efficiency.
  • Developing a strategic sales plan that emphasizes market expansion and business planning, and implement a reporting structure focused on process and accountability that drives growth and profitability in each market segment.
  • Rationalize sales plans and approaches and develop the most effective sales process for each market. • Evaluate market expansion and acquisition opportunities and provide the business cases and analytics to support them.
  • Develop plans to ensure successful introduction of new products and broader adaptation of existing products and services across all markets.

REQUIREMENTS

Candidates should posses the following experience, abilities and attributes:

  • A minimum of five years of P/L experience with a Healthcare/ Life Sciences equipment manufacturer managing multiple people in multiple functional areas. Strong preference for experience leading companies that provide equipment to the healthcare, laboratory, bio-pharmaceutical and animal care markets.
  • Sophisticated strategic planning, financial reporting, process improvement skills, and the leadership to positively effect change and drive growth.
  • Experience with managing to a full P&L budget: must produce, and secure Board approval for, 1-year and 3-year financial budgets; must be able to achieve/exceed EBITDA budgets each year.
  • A track record of success improving production operations, unifying and optimizing multi-site operations, expanding markets, increasing sales and enhancing profitability.
  • Engineering background and product design experience is a major plus. Must be familiar with manufacturing, software engineering, and compliance and regulatory issues (ISO, FDA, ASME and other regulations.)
  • Should be familiar with the major laboratory and healthcare construction firms and their bid process.
  • Must have good analytical skills and be experienced at making decisions based on data and analysis.
  • Must be computer literate and experienced with CRM.
  • The preferred candidate will have experience in varying business environments and markets, and must be comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment where resources come from incremental growth.
  • Candidate’s experience must include business and market development, new product introductions and market expansion initiatives.

  • Candidate must be able to identify business and market opportunities and be capable of preparing new product introductions and of managing and leveraging broader product offerings.

COMPENSATION
The complete package will include a competitive base salary, performance-linked bonus, stock options, and attractive equity investment opportunities. This position is based in Omaha.
